3RD ACTIVE FANS MEETING IN OSLO

Nine EFDN members are participating in the Active Fans programme which is co-funded by the Erasmus Plus Sport programme and that aims to develop a European methodology that reaches men and women from 35 years and older who would like to get physically active again, make lifestyle changes and improve their diets. Coaches and staff members are currently at the stadium of Valerenga Football in Olso to discuss the preparation of their local programmes.

The third seminar of the “Active Fans” programme in Oslo started with a short introduction followed by a recap of the last meeting in Glasgow. After welcoming the coaches and staff members, the attending project participants Bayer Leverkusen, Ferencvarosi TC, Vitesse Betrokken, KAA Gent Foundation, Feyenoord Foundation and host Valerenga Football shared an update on their project preparations.

A LOT OF FANS WANT TO PARTICIPATE

Overall, the reaction of the fans to the clubs’ announcements of the upcoming programme is very positive. Most of the clubs got more applications than they have places available. This run on the free places proved again that there is a high demand for health programmes like “Active Fans” and that the fans believe in the impact of the new EFDN programme. Another reason for the huge interest of fans are the good results of similar programmes that were already delivered in the past by some of the professional football clubs.

“WE RECEIVED MORE THAN 160 APPLICATIONS SO THAT WE EVEN HAD TO ORGANISE SOME KIND OF CASTING EVENT. FERENCVAROS WILL HAVE TWO GROUPS, ONE IN WINTER AND ONE IN SPRING”, SAID BALINT MATE FROM FERENCVAROSI TC.

Besides the experiences of Mr Mate, all other staff members of the clubs also explained how they organised the application process and shared their ideas how to organise this in the future.

FINANCING AND M & E

After a coffee break with healthy food, the financial framework was explained by EFDN. Monitoring and evaluation was the main topic in the afternoon. The clubs received additional training in the monitoring and evaluation programme “Views” and discussed some practical matters. The session ended with the testing of the software and the answering of remaining questions.
